Mel Pier and Emily Isaacs are the ‘Girls Next Door’, Adelaide acoustic duo.
Their charismatic stage presence combined with their lush harmonies, exceptional musicianship and sense of fun always ensures that the audience is left wanting more.
The girls have a broad song list that features everything from current chart hits, to pop and rock classics.
They specialise in tailoring their set list to suit the venue or occasion, and their intimate “unplugged” style is just as at home in the front bar of your local, right through to the most formal of functions.
Mel first picked up the guitar when she was 12 years old and fell in love with it instantly. She entered and won her first songwriting/performing competition at age 17, and was subsequently chosen to represent South Australia and the ASME National Conference. She most recently won the international FOOM Music competition (2015) and will have her song recorded in-studio later this year.
Mel completed her music degree at the Adelaide Conservatorium in 2008. Mel now enjoys performing in various bands and teaching music to high school students.
Mel loves her cat Kiko and pretty much any outdoor sport.
Emily began her music career at the tender age of 13, performing in Noosa duo ‘Prickly Pair’.
Since moving to Adelaide in 2011, Emily has become a highly sought after session vocalist and performer. She currently sings in the James Taylor tribute band ‘Taylor Made’, Andy Seymour’s ‘Bless my Soul: The Gospel Music of Elvis’ and ‘Shake Your Booty’, a 12-piece 70s/80s disco funk band. Mel also shakes her booty in this band and this is how Emily and Mel met…naw!
In fact, Mel’s exact words were, ‘Wow. You sound like the lovechild of Diane Ross and Whitney Houston. Will you be in my band…pretty please?’
Emily loves walking on the beach and all dogs, great and small.
Both Emily and Mel performed in a sell-out Fringe show at the Gov this year.
